Gear Down and Go Big For the best performance and the biggest lift on your Polaris Ranger XP 900, you need a set of 8” GDP Portals. They give you the ground clearance you need to fit big tires, and with your choice of a 45% or massive 60% gear reduction, you’ll have wicked torque that’ll rip through anything. If you want to turn your Ranger into the ultimate party wagon, get an 8” GDP Portal Gear Lift and get ready to have fun.
GDP—the Most Trusted Name in Portals Next time you’re out at the ride park, take a look around at the suspension setups you see. You’re bound to see more than a few GDP Portals. That’s because more riders roll on GDP portals than any other portal system. Thousands ride on them every weekend, and with that much trail time, you know they’re real-world proven.
45% and 60% Gear Reductions Dominate Mud Getting wild in the mud is all about going as big as you can. With 8” portals and a huge 45% or 60% gear reduction, you can go bigger than you thought possible. You have the ground clearance to keep from getting swamped and the gear reduction to turn monster mud grips through the bounty holes that swallow other riders whole.
A Gear Reduction That Protects Your Drivetrain Portal gear lifts reduce the stress on your axles, differentials, prop shafts, and transmission. That’s because GDP puts the gear reduction in the hub instead of the transmission. Your machine’s drivetrain will last longer than running stock, and you can have more fun than anyone else.

Unmatched Gear Material These aren’t amature gears, they’re top-of-the-line. We make them with precision-ground, 9310 alloy steel so they run quiet and they don’t quit. They’re designed for the extreme riding you love.
Stronger Housings by Design You think you can find a better set of housings? Think again. We make our housings stronger by design. We have the technical design experience and the real-world beat-down experience to know what portal housings need to last. So whether you choose cast or USA-made billet aluminum, you’re getting a kick-ass housing with unmatched strength and reliability. We’ve got the riders on the trail to prove it.
- Our housings are reinforced in all the right places
- They’re built with better oil flow and gearing forces in mind
- There are no gimmicks and no vents because vents do more harm than good—we know because we tested them
The Strongest Portal Backing Plates You Can Get We use an advanced steel alloy for our 5/16” steel backing plate to make them the strongest in the world. This isn’t your grandma’s steel—it’s stronger than chromoly and it’s designed for ultra-high force applications. These won’t break or bend over time.
Advanced Gaskets and Seals Whether you go with cast or billet, both housings use:
- Advanced Thermo-Tork® gaskets with excellent oil resistance and a lower deterioration rate than Kevlar gaskets
- Rubber O-rings that completely seal the housings
- A sealed input gear and double-lipped output seal
- 100% sealing coverage throughout so you can forget about oil leaks
Bearings That Rock Our gears are only as strong as the bearings that hold them, that’s why we use a double-angular contact bearing. It’s designed to take huge hits from every direction without wearing prematurely. It’s the battle-tank of bearings. Built for battle components make GDP the best.
Universal Hubs and Slotted Rotors Our precision-ground, stainless steel slotted rotors stay cool to give you the braking power you need when you need it. They come with 4/156, 4/137, 4/115, and 4/110 bolt patterns and lugs so you can use wheels from just about any side-by-side. We invented the tapered output shaft that our hubs attach to, which provides a more secure lock that won’t wobble or wear over time.
Frame Stiffener Required An 8” portal kit is a heavy-duty piece of hardware for heavy-duty machines, and as awesome as the Ranger XP 900 is, it’s not quite up to snuff. That’s why a frame stiffener is required. Trust us—we’ve hit enough bumps to know that bending a stock frame can happen. Don’t do it. Get a frame stiffener.
